아이리스 매리언 영(Iris Marion Young)사회적 약자의 입장에서 정의와 민주주의를 이야기하는 대표적인 정치철학자이자 페미니즘 이론가이다. 2006년 57세로 세상을 떠나기 전까지 시카고 대학교(University of Chicago) 정치학과에서 정의론, 민주주의이론, 페미니즘이론 등을 가르쳤다. 주요 저서로는 Justice and the Politics of Difference(1990), Intersecting Voices: Dilemmas of Gender, Political Philosophy, and Policy(1997), Inclusion and Democracy(2000), On Female Body Experience: “Throwing Like a Girl” and Other Essays(2005), Global Challenges: War, Self-Determination, and Responsibility for Justice(2006), Responsibility for Justice(2011) 등이 있다. 미국정치학회에서는 페미니스트 정치이론의 최우수 논문을 영(Iris Marion Young)과 오킨(Susan Moller Okin)의 기여를 기리고자 영과 오킨의 이름(Okin-Young Award)으로 매년 수여하고 있다.
